When is the best age to do newborn photoshoot?

I prefer to photograph newborns between 5-10 new days when they are still in that super sleepy, squishy, curly stage. It's also best to do the session before the baby acne sets in. This is not to say I can't photograph your baby a bit older, but the ultimate time is during the first week. Older newborns can definitely have photos taken and actually should because they are only that little for a whisper of time.
New parents mustn't beat themselves up if they didn't schedule with a newborn photographer in their second trimester, life is busy and sometimes things get left undone. Getting photos done at a couple of weeks old is not the best way to go BUT it's also not the worst. I have personally had very very sleepy newborns that were 3 weeks old. As long as parents are open-minded to what the outcome then a session should never be out of the question. That being said, try and book early. I hate saying no to new parents.

Baby portraits are treasures that you will have for not only your lifetime but your child's as well. They will show their children how adorable they were as infants. That is priceless!
Professional newborn photographers are a special bunch. We have the knowledge, the skill, the training, and the patience to safely pose and photograph babies. It's not something you want to do with someone who does not specialize in newborn photography.
